It all started with a thirst for travel – thanks to my parents who would take us all over the world at a drop of a hat, and when I got my first bike which I rode to school.
It has now culminated into “Bike vs World” - a self sufficient tour of the world on a bicycle.
I will be tackling some of the best roads, passes, tracks and cycleways in the world including The Mawson Trail, The Oodnadatta Track, The Guoliang Tunnel, The Silk Road, The Pamir Highway, The Transfargarasan Hwy and The Danube Cycleway just to mention a few!
No doubt this will be the biggest challenge both physically & mentally for me, but it is not just about me. I want people to step out of their comfort zone & realise that there is more to life than the world they live in. We each have a responsibility to ourselves & each other, not to mention the earth. Everything we do affects one or a multiple of these and the effects in most cases are irreversible. The consequences of our actions can be seen in the ever increasing number of natural disasters, global warming, rising sea levels and animal/plant extinctions taking place all over the world. There is no easy fix and previous generations cannot singularly be held accountable. People and governments all over are starting to realise that we are in peril, but I feel that action thus far has only been minimal and it seems peoples short term wants are being put ahead of our earths long term needs. I’m hoping my tour will inspire people to make this change. If not now then when? Future generations deserve to see mother earth in all her glory!

I will be supporting WWF Australia/Worldwide. These organisations help to conserve plant and animal life as well as our ecosystems. Please check out the links below for further information and to make a donation.

I will also be selling postcards produced from photos taken throughout my trip whilst on the road, as well as some quality UV protected stickers. 100% of the funds raised from the sale of these will be forwarded to WWF Australia/Worldwide. So if you see me on the road, pull me up, grab a couple and rest assured you are helping a worthy cause.
You can also make a direct donation to myself by clicking the "Donate" button on the bottom left hand corner of any page, alternatively if you happen to have a camp site or room you can donate for a single night en route, just visit the "Contact" tab on the top right hand corner of this page and send me an email.
Also if there are any companies/business' wanting to test any bicycle related product/s long term, I will be more than happy to do so and write up a full review/suggestions for improvement etc.
I will be totally self sufficient and off the grid on this tour. Self prepared locally sourced produce will be my fuel. A water filter will cleanse water for drinking. A solar panel and dynamo hub will provide power and light as required.
Why ride? For me the feeling of achievement you get when cresting that big hill, the fact I’m carrying everything I need to survive under my own power, being able to get off the beaten track and discover something unique, camping under the stars wherever I choose, being rewarded by vistas that only nature can provide and the sheer sense of freedom and solitude is hard to beat!
Please check the "Blog" and "Statistics" pages for regular updates on my progress. Make sure to scroll down to the bottom of these pages as I may add information days after the initial posting - especially if I'm at one location for several days.
I hope you can join me on this journey, pedal on and I hope to see you somewhere on the open road.
